April Reel: A Collection of Moments.

Here is something that may come off as a shock to many of you: I hate taking pictures. But to be specific, I hate taking pictures in public. But something in me has changed in the past few months. Something in me has been gnawing me to constantly pull out my phone and take pictures wherever I go.

I went out to quite a few new places this month, so I decided to share with you guys what I managed to capture (even with the major anxiety of taking pictures in public). I want this to be a sort of documented stepping stone for me, so I can see how much my confidence would have improve in the future!

What I have to show you guys isn’t much. It’s just 50+ images of sceneries, places, moments, and more digitally captured memories that I accumulated from the beginning of the year 🙂 I hope you guys enjoy this mini scrapbook prompt! Hopefully I’ll do more of these in the future 😉

Here I have a compilation of pretty scenery (basically just a bunch of sunsets xD ). I am a sucker for pretty skies, and the view from my apartment gives me the best kind ❤ Watching the sky inspires me and makes me think a lot. Something about the colors of the sky speaks to me. I can think of so many things that comes to mind when sunset watching. It’s very calming, but sometimes it can get a little overwhelming for some reason. It just sparks a lot of emotions in me.

This batch is quite a personal one for me. Lots of friends and loved ones are a huge part of this. I’ve been to amazing places with the best people, and due to a spontaneous trip to with friends, I discovered that I love museums ❤ All the places featured here have a very special place in my heart 🙂 I just wish I took more pictures! I want to be able to share and re-live every moment through each shot. But oh well. More moments will be made in the future!

Not necessarily reading physical books (I have a dedicated Instagram for that 😉 ). These are just pictures that are book-related. I went to a book sale not too long ago with some friends and visited the most amazing book/art store in one of Jakarta’s most hipster/trendy areas. Again, these places mean a lot to me because I was always accompanied by my loved ones ❤ I’m keen to discover more hidden bookstore gems in the future!

The main source of content creation comes from indulging myself in not just good company, but cute café spots with delicious drinks and gorgeous interior designs ❤ I’ve stumbled upon quite a few in the past that I just have to share with you guys!! 🙂 When I’ve tried enough cafés, I’ll definitely curate a blogpost/guide to café hopping/chilling!

These pictures weren’t taken in the most aesthetically pleasing way, which is the point! I wanted to highlight some important moments that the picture signifies, eg. wildflowers that were brought all the way from home from my mother because she knows how much i love them, a large box of fresh valentine flowers from my special someone, moving out to a new apartment, stumbling upon a cute little antique store, and more! Sometimes the best moments are not meant to be documented. I love looking back to these pictures. It’s such a bittersweet feeling :’) .

What a lovely idea! I can relate to feeling uncomfortable taking photos in public – sometimes I refrain from capturing a beautiful moment because I don’t want to see everything through a phone camera.
I loved the sky and ‘moments’ collections (and of course the bookish photos!) . I hope you keep taking pictures and sharing them! I’m a sucker for pretty clouds.

These photos are so pretty! And I agree, for some reason, watching the sky gives you that sense of comfort and I’m a sucker for that feeling. Another thing that gives me inspiration is the view of the city lights at night, it’s a personal favorite 💛 Hoping to see more of your snapshots in future posts!

Wow! Love all these photos! They’re so amazing, and I love how they’re all linked to a memory or a someone significant for you. Museums, especially art museums are fantastic! My friend and I took a short road trip to the New Orleans Museum of Fine Art, and we spent hours there (I think we left just before it closed…). I love taking photos, but I’m really apprehensive about taking them in public too. More so in small enclosed areas like bookshops and coffee shops. I guess, I’m afraid people are going to roll their eyes and think I’m that basic white girl that takes photos of their coffee all the time. XD But then, who cares what they think? Good luck on your photography journey! 😉
